Theresa Ferguson - Women of Grace
First broadcast on 06/12/2006
Theresa is the Seattle area leader of "Women of Grace" workshops and Chairman of Seminarian Aid for the Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women (ACCW) in Seattle. There was not only something different in what they said, in how they prayed and worshipped and much of it seemed really good. But it turned out to be something other than Christian, by any definition. Someone was obviously praying for Theresa because as the congregation's pastor began leading people to sell their homes and move, she had a simple encounter with God that turned the situation into something that strengthened Theresa's faith. Theresa tells how she has brought the 'Women of Grace' workshops to the Seattle area for Catholic women who want a vibrant life in Christ. Gene and Debby Mousseau talk with Father Bob about faith and the Church.
First broadcast on 07/03/2006
Gene had a fine classical high school education at St. Edwards minor seminary, but felt the fallout of some bad experiences there which were latent in the culture there and in society. Until he was able to separate God's people from God's Church, he avoided God. Finally finding God in a priest's invitation, and ultimately a call to forgiveness, he was able to move by encounters with Christ through forgiveness to healing. His wife Debby's life has been different. Always at peace with God and his Church because of a personal relationship with Christ, she is amazed at both the experience of others and how God heals his children enough to make a family and a life in a parish community. They talk about their life as Catholics with their daughter and how being in parish community adds strength to the Catholic Christian life and the family.

13 year old Joe Petrich - Youth chapter of the St. Vincent de Paul.
First broadcast on 05/01/2006
13 year-old Joe Petrich is a completely normal kid--except for one thing. Joe Petrich apparently sees what kids his age can do and finds a way to get these other kids in his life to do it with him. Elected to a Catholic grade school class officer's position, he decided to do more than develop extra social gatherings and instead founded a youth chapter of the St. Vincent DePaul Society. People of any age might be inspired by the way Joe has learned to delegate tasks and even replace himself by promoting leadership among his peers. Perhaps the only strain in listening to this Conversation with Father Bob is that Joe is clearly 13, but his words offer more than you might expect. And maybe we should expect such from each of us.

Emily Uhl and her 22 month old son, Matteo came to Conversations with Father Bob to not only tell of her coming to the Catholic Church, but how she comes to unselfishly give all of herself to her marriage and to her children. Her younger son Matteo lives with Down syndrome. Emily and her husband refused the invasive pre-natal testing of amniocentesis for birth defects and have in Matteo what she calls "an angel". "We wanted to get this child to his baptism," she said. Formerly appreciative of what is known among some as a woman's right to choose, or the pro-choice/pro-abortion position, Emily and Matteo give a poignant response on behalf of a culture of life. Offering their stories and situation to others becomes an opportunity to evangelize and to love others who have a wide range of experiences—both joys and sorrows.
